Building Beyond the Gilbert Erector Set
Erector Sets made by the A.C. Gilbert Company first appeared in 1913 and were sold nearly continuously up until the 1960s. Along the way, these sets drew competition from a number of companies including Kenner's Bridge and Panel Sets, Lego and even Tinker Toy with its wooden sprockets and pegs.
This Construct-All 1000 Building Set was made by Transogram in 1966 and marketed as safe for using plastic rather than steel parts. The battery-less rivet gun resembles a Star Trek Phaser, which was probably intentional considering the show's popularity.
