Spotting the Unusual on a Table Full of Usual
Picking large shows can be a daunting experience. There's so much sameness out there. And then one item catches your attention. Maybe you've never seen anything like it, or it's a color you aren't used to finding. This Pre-War American Flyer 91 Station Platform from 1939 was one of those finds.
It looks German, which makes sense because American Flyer imported some German production accessories early on. The fact that nothing on the dealer's table looked anything like this and the patina appeared to be all original made me throw it on the pile of 'what do you want for all this?' You usually have to take a chance to score something unusual.
