Early Floor Toys

Late 1800s to early 1900s floor toys ran the gamut from clunky wooden vehicles to elaborate cast iron relics. This tinplate lithographed Speedaway Bus was made by the Wolverine Supply & Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1938. It features wooden wheels along with a geared 'Mystery Motor' mechanism that propels the bus forward when downward pressure is applied to the reax axle.
