Outstanding Photography Sells
Visit any online marketplace and you'll see some really great images along with plenty of poor quality examples. Photography is, of course, a Boomer Hobby. Who remembers photo classes in high school and college along with their associated chemical smelling dark rooms?
Digital is the way to go these days, but not necessarily using a cell phone camera. Compact digital cameras from the early 2010s are making a comeback for their ease of use and sepia toned images. Using them in natural sunlight works best because their flash elements are crude and tend to wash out colors and detail. You don't need fancy picture editing software to dress up these images. The standard Microsoft editing tool is easy to use and produces effective results.
One more suggestion for online sellers: If your item is functional, videos are a valuable tool for demonstrating operational capabilities. That said, there's no reason to post videos of inanimate objects. Multiple still images from different angles will be easier for potential buyers to look at and provide them with greater detail. Sadly, most people aren't very talented at creating watchable videos.
